As a progressive regulator, TICO believes that engagement and education are just as important as enforcement in ensuring that Ontarians feel confident purchasing travel from registered businesses.
Workshops and webinars
As part of our renewed focus on registrant engagement, TICO is offering more opportunities for Ontario’s travel agents to participate in ongoing educational sessions.
That includes monthly Travel Agent Workshops, which are comprehensive half-day sessions at TICO’s office that cover everything from advertising compliance to invoice requirements to social media and much more.
We are also offering more focused webinars that cover single topics, such as trust accounting. These sessions are interesting, interactive and available at no cost to you.

Education is also a critical part of reaching out to Ontario’s consumers, to inform them of the benefits of booking with a TICO-registered travel agency or website.
Since travel agents are the ones who interact with consumers on a daily basis, having you carry the message on TICO’s behalf will help spread it that much further.
An easy way to do that? Follow TICO on Facebook and “share” our posts – they all speak to the value of booking with YOU! If you prefer Instagram or Twitter – we are there too!
Updating our resources
for YOU
As part of our Travel Agent Workshops, we are asking participants for their feedback on the existing Registrant Toolkit and what new resources would be beneficial.
What we’re hearing is that travel agents are interested in collateral they can share with their clients electronically that speak to the benefits of booking with a registered business.
This could include refreshed e-ticket stuffers, videos and social media posts. In addition to the Registrant Toolkit, we are hearing agents’ feedback about new ways TICO can communicate with you – stay tuned for more details soon!
