TICO conducted a comprehensive registrant survey in January. Here's what we heard from you.
In January, TICO asked registrants to take part in a comprehensive survey. The survey asked about registrants’ perceptions of TICO’s value, along with satisfaction and confidence in TICO’s services.
We also asked about business recovery, what you see as your greatest challenges at this time and opportunities looking ahead.
“The data allows us to better understand registrants’ needs, views and perceptions,” said TICO CEO Richard Smart. “We review all of the insights to see where we can make meaningful enhancements to the way we operate and how we can bring added value to the industry.”
Here’s What We Heard:
Value, Satisfaction & Confidence
- 2-in-3 registrants feel TICO and its services provide “significant” or “good” value to registrants; this is a 13% increase since 2021.
- More than 7-in10 registrants have confidence in TICO as a regulator, this a 10% increase since 2021.
- 7-in-10 registrants are satisfied with TICO. There has been a steady increase in satisfaction since 2021 (+14%).
Interactions with TICO
- Almost 3-in-4 registrants say they are in contact with TICO more than once a year.
- 2-in-3 have attended or participated in at least one of TICO’s engagement initiatives, with the most frequent being webinars/workshops/seminars. Over 4-in-5 were satisfied with the events, which is a 17% increase from 2021.
- 2-in-3 registrants feel it is valuable that TICO offers initiatives like webinars, seminars, workshops, etc. To see TICO’s latest webinar schedule, click here.
Pandemic Support
- 9-in-10 felt the waiver of renewal fees was valuable, including 4-in-5 who felt it was “very valuable”. This is a 16% increase in rating from 2021.
- Over 4-in-5 felt the regulatory changes that helped registrants financially were valuable.
Biggest Challenges for the Industry
The industry continues to grapple with labour shortages and getting business back to
pre-pandemic sales levels.
Biggest Opportunities for the Industry
The survey found two main themes for the biggest opportunities for the industry: soaring consumer demand for travel and consumers seeing greater value in travel agents than ever before.

TICO continuously looks for ways to engage with industry so that we can be responsive to industry needs, concerns and developments. Through ongoing surveys, roundtables and informal discussions, we’ll seek industry input on issues of consumer protection and industry resilience.
